In 1992 Turkish Jewry celebrated not only the 5ooth anniversary of the official welcome of the Spanish Jews by the Sultan Bayazid II, but also the remarkable spirit of tolerance and acceptance which has characterized the whole Jewish experience in Turkey. Historical Cycling International welcomes you to join us in discovering the richness and security of life Jews have found in the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Republic over the past 5 centuries. Our travels in Turkey will include 10 unforgettable days where we will explore exotic Istambul; immersing into her aromatic smells and mysterious Bazaars, and cycle the magical Cappadocia and the historically rich region of the Turkish Riviera on the Meditearranean Sea. .

Days 1 & 2: Istambul
Arrive in Istambul and rendezvous at our hotel. Lecture of Istambul and Turkish Jewish history. Walking tour of Sultan Ahmet area including the Hagia Sophia, one of the world's greatest architectural achievements over 1,400 years old, the Blue Mosque and Underground Cistern. Welcome dinner in Istambul.
Morning tour of the uncomparable Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar and Kariye Museum. Continue toward the Golden Horn and visit to Istambul's oldest Synagogue (1400, rebuilt in the 1600s), the Ahrida Synagogue and the Ahayim Jewish Hospital. In Galata, the Historic Jewish quarter, visit the chief Rabbinate, Galata tower, the modern Neve Shalom Synagogue (1951), the Italian Synagogue (1880) and the Ashkenazi Synagogue (1900). A late afternoon visit to the Dolmabahce Palace and a pre-dinner coffee in Ortakoy with a short look at the marble ark from the remains of the Etz Ahayim Synagogue (burned in 1941), near the beautifully ornamented Ortakoy Mosque on the shores of the Bosphoros.

Days 3 & 4: Istambul to Cappadocia
Morning flight to Kayseri and transfer to the Old Greek House. Cycle from the Old Greek House in the village of Mustafapasa to Urgup, the Fairy Chimneys, the rock cut monasteries of Zelve in Cavusin with a late lunch in Goreme. Visit the open air museum and then to the wine growing region of Kizil Cikir.
Morning cycling to the unspoiled Soganli Valley. Lunch in Soganli then transfer to the underground city of Derinkuyu. Continue to Uchisar for a visit to the tower and to take in the views of Goreme. Return to the Old Greek House for a relaxing home cooked meal.

Day 5: Antalya
Early morning transfer to the Mediterranean city of Antalya. Stop in Konya for lunch and a short visit to the Whirling Dervish Museum. Continue to Beysehir for an afternoon ride through the heart of the Taurus Mountains. Dinner by the Mediterranean Sea. версия для печати

Day 6 & 7: Kas
Early morning transfer to the top of the Olympos Bey Mountains and cycle through the range descending to the Mediterranean Sea and the ruins of Olympos and the ancient Chimaera. Relax on the beach and take a swim before we continue to the quaint seaside village of Kas.
All day boat trip around Kas to Kekova; swimming, relaxing and visiting the underwater Lycian ruins. Seaside dining in Kas.

Day 8: Olu Deniz
Transfer to Fethiye stopping at the Saklikent Gorge for 3 hours of canyoning (optional). In the afternoon, ride to the abandoned Greek village of Kayakoy and then descend to the seaside village of Olu Deniz.

Day 9: Optioanl early morning paragliding from the 6,300 foot Baba Dag Mountain to the beach at Olu Deniz. Transfer to Dalyan. Leisurely ride to the ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos and then to the 3 km long, undeveloped Turtle Beach. Late afternoon flight to Istambul. Farewell dinner and celebrations in Istambul.

Day 10: Departure
After a leisurely breakfast we say our good-byes and see you off on your next adventure.
